I hope everyone had a safe and happy
holiday. Now it is time to get back to
work for LaSociete.
The State Wreck in December was well attended
and we welcomed 15 new Voyageurs into our ranks.
Spring Cheminot will be held March 10th in
Lansing, hosted by Voiture 946. The
official call will in the Whistle Stop with all the details.
Now, let’s talk about membership. Currently Michigan stands at 63.06% which
puts us in 39th place nationally. Our
neighbor to the South - Ohio is currently in 10th place with 78.61%. Michigan, we need to get busy and start
working on our membership. If we can’t
get our membership program moving the rest of our programs will suffer as
well. Michigan currently has 2 Voitures
over 100% - Voiture 1425 at 115.00% and Voiture 1223 at 111.11% -
Congratulations to you both on a job well done!! Voiture 102 and Voiture1086 are only 1 short
and there are 11 Voitures that need 10 or less to reach 100% . Currently there is only one goose egg, V-1383
– hopefully they will be getting some membership sent in soon! Take the time this week to call those
Voyagers that haven’t paid their dues,
check on them, make sure they are
okay and encourage them to get their dues paid.
Sometimes all it takes is just a little effort. Don’t sit back and say membership isn’t your
job. Membership is the life blood of our
organization – without it we won’t exist.
I would like to take this opportunity to
remind Michigan Voyageurs that we have a candidate from Michigan running for Chef
de Chemin de Fer 2013 – Barry Bovee from Voiture 997. I would like to see each
Voiture in Michigan plan a fund raiser to help build Barry’s campaign fund.
Michigan has had the good fortune of having five Chef de Chemin de Fer’s from
our Grand Voiture and with our support Barry can be our sixth.
